It's located aboutMountains from the rd 4 ½ miles off the Southern Highway at mile 6, and it encompasses over 7,000 square acres of lowland and Maya Mountains in the Stann Creek district. It was declared a National Park in 2006. Our tour operator is Mr. Lascelle Tillet from S & L Tours and our personal guide is Terrence Salam who is also the Chairman of Mayflower Bocawina National Park. The Visitors Center is located at the entrance to the grounds.

There are also several species of wildlife including the reclusive Jaguar, Peccaries, Ocelot and Puma, just to name a few.
As we started our journey over the Silk Grass Bridge, the trail was wide and flat for the first half of the journey and walking through the jungle was quite an experience.
Did you know the wee wee ant nest goes down about 15 to 20 ft deep and that Gibnut, Agouti and other animals use it for hiding from predators?
Did you know that the favorite food for the Gibnut is the cohune nut?  puma
The second half of the journey was a bit strenuous and in some areas, we held on to ropes to drag ourselves up  and as we went along, we could hear the flow of the waterfalls. After hiking, climbing and resting along the way, it took us about 4 hours to reach the summit where the pool sits. Here Gibnutwe were able to see the water running along the sides of the mountain. Coming back down, we stopped at an area where we had a beautiful view of Hopkins, and the Caribbean Sea, which was in the distance.
