Andy Palacio

Andy Vivian Palacio was born December 2, 1960 and passed away January 19, 2008. He was born and raised in the coastal village of Barranco in the southern part of the country of Belize. Andy Palacio is well known for his various punta and paranda hits. He was the first musical artist from Belize to have a music video featured on international television. Palacio received the award for "Best New Artist" at the Caribbean Music Awards in 1991. Andy Palacio, an icon in Caribbean music, was also the first Caribbean and Central American artist to be appointed by UNESCO as an artist for peace.. Andy, from a very young age, had a vision of his culture and music being recognized worldwide. He lived just long enough to realize this vision. Andy Palacio is recognized locally and internationally for great hits such as Ereba, Gimmie Punta Rock, and his last hit, Watina.
