Sonia Bennett

Sonia Bennett Belizean songstress, Sonia Bennett, has released her debut album featuring 100% Christian music, including two of her originals: Who Jesus Is To Me and Mother.
Sonia says that she has loved music since she was a child and grew up listening to Country music. She was influenced by the likes of Charlie Pride, Dolly Parton, George Jones, Jim Reeves, and Loretta Lynn listening to them on her dad's record player while growing up in Lemonal, a village in the Belize River Valley.
Apart from learning to sing in the style of these international icons, Sonia eventually learned to play the guitar with the help of her husband, Gliksten Bennett, who provided some of the background instrumentals on her album and who is featured on the songs, I Know a Man and Cool Chilly Waters.
Sonia Bennett says she performs at funerals, weddings, and at her church Trinity Assembly of God on the Western Highway.
She began her studio work last November at the Heights of Vibes Studio, completing it within four months. Copies of the album, "I've Found The Answer," are available in Belize City at Venus, Record Shack, Tambran, Teddy's, or from the singer herself at Stepping Stones Preschool in Belama or her residence at #10 Faber's Road, Belize City.
Bennett says she prayed for God's guidance before she selected her songs for the CD. She thanks Him for helping her to realize her childhood dream and is also grateful to all those who supported her in this venture.
The singer said that initially her favorite song on the album was the title track, "I've Found the Answer," but track #15 has since become very dear to her. She dedicates the song to her late brother, Arthur Bonner, Jr. who in New York in 2006. Being the two oldest, Sonia and Arthur shared a passion for Country music and were very close.
The tribute to her beloved brother is titled, Tears Will Never Stain the Streets of That City - a song imbued with Christian hope that death will not permanently separate those who are saved in Christ.
