Tanya Carter
Tanya Joanne Carter was born on February 4th, 1984, came out and hit that right note. Later on she would go to church to perform songs with the choir and took over the whole performance. When other children her age were listening to “wheels on the bus”, Tanya’s parents made her listen to the Burning Spear, Earth wind and fire, Bob Marley, Tina Marie and Roberta Flack. At age 5, attending Grace Primary School, she then enrolled in the choir as a soprano. The choir won countless awards and competitions, under the direction of Ms. Gloria Edwards. She later joined Alto and then tenor, under Mr. Chris Bradshaw, which was an accomplishment for her. She later went to Edward Percival York High school, where she joined the choir and a group called “via Vocalate’” where she learned to sing operatic and classical songs, in different languages. She later Joined Belize Music Agency and was turned on to jazz and blues, which she later loved and incorporated into her music. She did Festivals in Mexico, from Veracruz, Chiapas, Tabasco and in other provinces. She won best female vocalist of the year from Global Entertainment and was one of the lead singers in Frankie Reneau’s, we are Belize Project, singing “Welcome to Belize”. She still continues to sing and make music and she recently got recognized for her new song “HERO” and has opened for International Artists such as “Etana, Lexxus and Luciano”.
